Verity is disappointed to learn that the classes she loved to teach at the academy for girls will now be taught by a different teacher. She feels slighted and lost by this demotion. She coincidentally received a letter from her cousin who recently moved to Montana as the result of a mail order bride correspondence. Verity decides to leave her situation in Rochester, New York and take a risk. She meets with the blacksmith there for help with her new classroom, and the meeting did not go well. Can this unfortunate first encounter be turned around?
